Here's the first of my requests: A fire-hide cloak for ~orathaic.
Fires are an ancient species that flourish on planet Earth. While they are viewed as predators and avoided by most other animals of Earth they have been widely domesticated by humans, who use the fire's intrinsic abilities to their own ends. Even when fires escape from captivity they are regarded more as pests to be culled than threats, unless they succeed in consuming vast amounts and dramatically increasing in size or number before the culling begins. Unlike most of Earth's species fires are not corporeal and can be killed using only specific weapons, although their intolerence to water has been a great vulnerability on a world two-thirds covered in ocean. Only the tendency of fires to dissipate entirely when they are killed (or extinguished, as the humans phrase it) has prevented wide-scale fire farming for their skin. Specialised weapons which would counteract their natural abilities while leaving the hide intact could revolutionise the humans' fashion industry, which appears to have a hold on a large proportion of the population in scientifically advaced regions. Such equipment, however, requires considerable expenditure of capital and there is only one fire-hide cloak currently in existence. It was a lot of fun to do. I don't often do digital work but for some things (especially bright things) my usual style just doesn't work. This took 4-5 hours in paint shop pro. I used a picture of a cloak from [link] to give it its shape, and the flames are supposed to mimic the hair in a lions mane. Originally I was going to have someone wearing it, but in the end I decided to leave it on a stand, just like the one in the reference. I now want a fire-hide cloak more than ever! |

I may have to try modelling something like this...

I have recently decided that in my case, the phrase "know thine enemy, and know thyself" is redundant. I am my own worst enemy...
Let me know if you do!
